Earthquake tremors were felt in parts of Punjab including Lahore and surrounding areas on Wednesday.
“The quake measured 4.0 on the richter scale, with its epicentre near Nankana Sahb,” Muhammad Qamar, an official of the Pakistan Meteorological Department told The News Dispatch. People left their homes and offices in panic.
The quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, the official added. No casualties have been reported thus far.
The earthquake comes weeks after an earthquake measuring 5.8 on the richter scale shook Islamabad and parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkwa.
Tremors of the quake, the epicentre of which was reported to be in the Hindu Kush range were felt across Chitral, Dir, Mianwali, Shangla, Malkand, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Islamabad. Following tremors, people rushed out of their homes and buildings amid panic.
Tremors were also felt in seven Hazara districts including Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram, Torghar, upper and lower Kohistan.
Meanwhile, mobile phone services have been disrupted in some areas of K-P following the earthquake.
